Following the successful 12 weeks project, South Belfast Highway to Health is offering free access to aromatherapy, reflexology and Indian Head Massage treatments to disadvantaged individuals in the ten target communities for extra 18 weeks.
The aim of the project is to address health and wellbeing needs of individuals in disadvantaged communities by providing access to treatment, information and signposting to other services.
Complementary therapies have proven to be beneficial for a wide range of ailments and conditions including, backache, indigestion, hay fever and particularly to improve mental health.

- Information and support therapist will provide you with further information on services available for your condition

- you suffer from any persistent and chronic problems such as backache or arthritis.
- you suffer from stress or any other mental illness such as depression.
- If you have been referred by your GP.
South Belfast Highway to Health has secured funding to launch a sexual health empowerment programme in the ten target communities.
The aim of the programme is to contribute to a reduction in inequalities in health by facilitating information and training to young people in disadvantaged communities in south Belfast to take action to improve their own sexual health and wellbeing.
The programme will provide participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to take action to improve their sexual health as well as to enhance the capacity of young people resident in South Belfast in the promotion of sexual health issues within their own communities.
The programme consists of:
• The designing development and delivery of a comprehensive sexual health education programme exploring attitudes and values around sex for young people in the ten target communities.
• The designing and production of a sexual health resource pack that will support community workers (youth workers, health development workers, peer educators) to raise awareness on sexual health.
• The delivery of a peer education sexual health training programme for local youth from the 10 target communities.
o This programme will provide participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to contribute/assist in the delivery of sexual health education programmes in their own area.
Fruit Bites, Healthy Life
South Belfast Highway to Health launches innovative pilot project to promote healthy eating in Taughmonagh.
The main aim of “Fruit Bites, Healthy Life” project is to contribute to a reduction in inequalities in health, by facilitating access to fresh fruit and vegetables, information and support to disadvantaged individuals in the Taughmonagh area in order to take action to improve their own health and wellbeing”
The project consists of the provision of £5 worth fruit and vegetable parcel for only £1.50 a week to 30 household in Taughmonagh.
This project will run for 24 weeks.
