South Belfast Highway to Health recognizes that many factors have a negative impact on our health, including poverty, unemployment, poor education, poor living and working environments and social exclusion.
South Belfast Highway to Health offers a wide range of training and education programmes for disadvantaged individuals and communities in order to take action towards a healthier life and to build healthier communities.
In addition to tailored programmes we deliver the following packs:
◊ Skills 4 Health
10 weeks programme
This course is about:
• Understanding and exploring the wide range of factors which influence our health.
• Enabling participants to critically analyse the potential for individual action and working with others to impact positively on health
• Helping people to develop and improve literacy, numeracy and ICT skills through learning about individual and community health issues

6 Weeks programme
This course is a health awareness programme that aims to help adults in the community to learn more about how to take care of their own health. This programme includes the following modules:
• Alcohol and Drugs
• Cancer prevention
• Nutrition
• Physical Activity
• Smoking
• Stress and relaxation
Target Group: Adults and Young people

◊ Eat Smart and Play Smart
15 weeks programme
This programme is health awareness programmes promoting healthy eating and physical activities for children.
It includes:
• Nutrition information : Balance of good health
• Physical activity: movement, dance, etc

◊ COOK IT! Cooking Club
Cookery clubs are an enjoyable way of enabling young people and their families to recognise how food they prepare for themselves can help to make them healthier. It includes:
• plan balanced meals
• budget for food
• shop effectively
• read and understand food labels
• store and prepare food safely
• be creative when cooking
• consider the environment in which food is being prepared and eaten.
